Carefree Culottes

Going into my second year of college, I'm keeping in mind all of the things that I had to learn the hard way during my first year. Since my senior year of high school, the anxiety about all the changes that would be coming had already affected me. And because I expected the worst, that's what I brought onto myself, and so much more. I know that this is my own fault. I know that this year I need a new, better and positive mentality. I wanted to share some of the epiphanies I've had over the past year to help some of you high school and college students, while also showing off some items from my Back to School/Fall Wishlist.

People Will Leave. Keep Living.

One of the most devastating things to happen to a teenage is loosing a friend. Loosing anyone to death, of course is the ultimate tragedy, but not seeing a best friend that you've spent everyday with of the last few years can be sadder than expected. This is the person you laugh with, tell your secrets to, and bond with over your dislike for the same people. Of course there are endless means of digital communication, but them being physically present has a stronger effect on your spirit. Last year my (then) boyfriend (who was also my bestfriend) moved to a different city for college. I spent my first semester constantly, CONSTANTLY, wondering and worrying about the things that might happen to change our relationship, all the things he was enjoying without me. I wasted so much time and energy obsessing over trying to keep things the same, and I let it affect me negatively. But I had to realize, people are going to move away, and despite how sad I stayed, he would do what he had to do and keep enjoying his life (without me). I had to find a way to do the same. As an introvert, I know how dreadful even the thought of being in a large social situations can be, but finding interesting events to go to and groups on campus make getting through college a lot easier and fun.
