Keep Calm, Hobby On

Going into my second year of college, I'm keeping in mind all of the things that I had to learn the hard way during my first year. Since my senior year of high school, the anxiety about all the changes that would be coming had already affected me. And because I expected the worst, that's what I brought onto myself, and so much more. I know that this is my own fault. I know that this year I need a new, better and positive mentality. I wanted to share some of the epiphanies I've had over the past year to help some of you high school and college students, while also showing off some items from my Back to School/Fall Wishlist.

Keep Calm

There's a lot that consumes your mind in college, especially during the first year when you're not fully adjusted to all the changes. Worrying about financial aid and covering the cost of tuition, remembering to do assignments and trying to get out of your own why to socialize with others can be beyond overwhelming. It becomes difficult to finish a complete thought without starting the next one. This past year I realized that having an outlet or hobby to quiet my mind is so necessary for maintaining my sanity. Personally I love sewing and DIYing (Surprise! Surprise!) Challenging myself to create forces me to silence all my other thoughts and focus on what's in front of me. I think everyone needs to have that type of positive distraction to keep the calm through the college madness.

And some good news!...I'm really excited to announce that I'll be writing for CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru Intern this semester. You can read my fall bio and subscribe to my upcoming articles here

  1. I agree in college it's definitely important to have a hobby you're good at; even more I love your shirt!!!! If I saw this shirt in stores I would buy it. Never know, maybe in the future you'll have your own clothing line. 😉
